ATVOD BOARD VACANCY ADVERTISED
The Authority for Television On Demand (ATVOD) is the co-regulator of editorial content in UK on-demand TV and video services. ATVOD is directed by a board with independent members securing the consumer and broader public interests, and non-independent members who provide the authority with insight from the industry and offer an understanding of industry concerns. Independent members are always in the majority.
The board is now seeking to recruit a new Independent Board Member to replace a member who will stand down at the end of the year after working on establishing the authority since its designation in the spring of 2010.
The successful applicant will be required to contribute to overseeing the key functions of the new regulatory framework, helping to agree the goals of the organisation and setting the overall strategy. He or she will support the Independent Chair and the Chief Executive in questioning intelligently, debating constructively and challenging rigorously in order to shape decisions and give clear guidance to the executive. The successful applicant may have a background in consumer or child protection, experience of working at Board level - ideally in a regulated environment - and enthusiasm for the aims of ATVOD. Recent and relevant financial expertise would be welcome in this appointment. Awareness of media content issues and new technology is also desirable.
The successful applicant will not normally be required to spend more than two to three days per month fulfilling these duties.
Remuneration: £10,000 per annum
Based: London
Closing date for applications: Noon on 29th October 2012
Interviews: 22nd November 2012
